Article
One of the great eccentrics of British rock, classically trained English-Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Patrick Wolf has now recorded six albums in a variety of genres.
His new album, 'Sundark and Riverlight', a double album, follows ten years on from his debut long player, 'Lycanthropy', and contain re-recorded, acoustic versions of songs from all of his other albums.
The first disc,' Sundark', features, as Wolf has described it, "more solitary darker material" and "songs that were written in loneliness and not really thinking about other people", while the second disc, 'Riverlight', are "more centered on enlightenment and joy" and "about relationships or involving other people." He has summed it up by saying that there is "solitude on one (the first disc) and togetherness on the second disc."
'Sundark and Riverlight', which Wolf has said he wants to be seen as "a biography", features him playing, as well as the acoustic guitar, a grand piano, hammered dulcimer, bodhran and harp.
These photographs of Patrick Wolf were taken on the 7th February by Marie Hazelwood at a show at The Epstein Theatre in Liverpool.
