Stereo Total - Baby Ouh!

Trans-european these days, Stereo Total sing not only in German and French, yet as well as in Spanish as a result of their 'Best of' for the Elefant label from a few months ago - tracks sung in español or trunks sank in Spain, pardon me the wordplay. After over fifteen years of Stereo Totalitarianism, 'Baby Ouh!' follows the line of expectations, yet by jolly subject diversity, the Berlin-esque duo set out to amaze once again. Expect lo-fi eurodisco with a sixties trash tarnish that blends well with Stereo Total's slightly sleazy themes. Françoise Cactus and Brezel Göring take you from the toilet seats in the ladies' via Andy Warhol's facial acne troubles to forbidden fruits of the loins. Mr Göring twists his gender to turn into a mama while Madame Cactus thinks you'll suit just fine for 'vögeln' - 'vögeln' being the popular quoquialism in the German language for fornicating. Stereo Total are polyglots of a modern age, and 'Baby Ouh' does not lend an ear to those who don't understand the respective languages. The music makes up for that quite a bit though and Stereo Total have since moved on. Catchy sixties punk pop has made place for catchy euro disco punk pop while there seems to be no end to the inventive songwriting of Cactus and Göring - a most unlucky surname if there ever was one. Without ever striving to do so, Stereo Total show how Berlin isn´t at all just about electronic snob twitterisms in music.´Baby Ouh´ to the contrary celebrates rock´n roll, doo-wop, cabaret and the joy of sex. Should there ever be a band big enough to stand in the shoes of the Cramps, Stereo Total will be the first brought to my mind. 'Baby Ouh' is a sizzling affair of loosened frenzy.
