Battle - Paper Street

Label: Transgressive Records
Format: CDS
Anthemic new single from London-based gropup Battle, who have just released their debut album

Review

'Paper Street' is the stand out on Battle's full-length debut album, 'Break the Banks'. It is an easy-on-the-ear anthemic number, an acoustic guitar sitting easily with Jason Bavandan's vocal which makes this a dream of a song to wake up to in the morning, a song to make you rejoin that you are alive. It comes in a CDS and vinyl edition. 'Stop', the B side of the 7 inch,is jangly and fresh and, reminiscent of Echo and the Bunnymen in places, has enough energy and balls to tumble a brick wall. Sadly a remix of 'North Sea', one of the album tracks, by Russell from Bloc Party and which appears on the B side of the CDS loses most of Jason's vocal and much of the great beauty of the number

Track Listing:-

1 Paper Street
2 North Sea (Russell Bloc Party Remix)
