First single from Ladytron’s forthcoming new album 'Witching Hour' which in a departure from their previous efforts "creates a futuristic electro-heralding of a brave new digital world"
Review
The first single from Ladytron’s third long player 'Witching Hour' is a clear departure from their previous efforts and creates a futuristic electro-heralding of a brave new digital world.
Away from the offish, metal hearts that brought us 'Playgirl' and 'Seventeen', 'Sugar' is meatier, louder, rockier and undeniably cool. It’s grounded in the present and set to rip apart indie clubland. A solid steel intro invites a leather clad riff that is ready to crash and burn at any second, driven by the emotionless sentiment of ice queen Helen Marnie.
Whilst 'Sugar' retains the aesthetic polish of Ladytron, it reveals a dangerous, destructive edge to their music; perhaps even metal hearts can race.
