Review

I love the Butterflies of Love. They are fun and as both Jeffrey and Daniel Greene, neither of whom are related, both have day jobs, play music simply for the love of it. Jeffrey , who is based in New York, works for a gallery and Daniel is a teacher in the band's home town of new Haven in Connecticut. Butterflies of Love write shortish guitar pop anthems in a cool Americana way and have been compared to everyone from REM to Pavement. To my ears, they don't sound like anyone else in my record collection, but they are a very highly addictive experience. Both Jeff and Dan's songs are two sides of the same coin, but they are not a Lennon and McCartney. Each of the Greene's songs are different in style and content, and this makes for a better picture within the band. Dan's songs are generally more easily digestable and a little more commercial, while Jeffrey's songs tend to be "growers". The usual Butterflies of Love affair live and on record is one song each, so even if you don't like one or the other's songs you only have four minutes to wait until the next one. One for fans of great US underground guitar rock !
