Two new bands on a split 7” single. The first (and my favourite) are Brighton’s Cape Canaveral who are fronted by Andy Action Painting! (of Sarah records fame). ‘Someday Anyhow’ is, I think, their debut release and is pretty damn fine. It’s powerpop with a punky edge and reminds me of 60ft Dolls track ‘Stay’. This is bouncy and fun and Cape Canaveral deserve to do really well. I’m eager to check them out live after listening to this. Supercool Water I don’t know anything about to be honest except that they’re from New Zealand (I think!). What I do know is that ‘Shark’ is causing some interest and has been picked up by Steve Lamacq. I love the guitars in this and they sound great at what they do. Some split singles previewing new bands are a let down but this one is definitely not and I hope we hear a lot more from these two.

Track Listing:-

1 Cape Canaveral : Someday Anyhow,
2 Supercool Water : Shark
