I first encountered Farnborough four piece Inter a while ago at the Barfly, Camden when they had just appeared on a split Fierce Panda EP with Symposium and Midget.
They then had an Indie chart smash with ‘National Paranoia’ before going missing for a while but now they’re back. ‘Radio Finland’ is a new single out on May 1st on Yoshiko and it’s pretty damn fine. It’s a great song basically and Inter do this so much better than a lot of others. They can thrash away with the best of ‘em but ‘Radio Finland’ shows a poppier side with vocalist Steve ‘de-de-de-da-ing’ at the start. The lyric ‘I’ve got a direct line to your brain’ is dead right as it really lodges itself in your head!
This song and ‘The Great Unknown’ is taken from their debut album, ‘Got My Nine’ out at the end of May. ‘The Great Unknown’ is in a similar vein and just as good as ‘Radio Finland’ and should be a single in it’s own right.
To sum up, a step forward for Inter and a single that will surprise a lot of people.
