Zutons - The Big Decider

Label: Icepop
Format: CD
Welcome comeback album and first LP in sixteen years from innovative Liverpudlian band The Zutons

Review

Liverpool band The Zutons enjoyed a surprise bonus when the Amy Winehouse (and Mark Ronson) cover of their song ‘Valerie’ was a global hit in 2007. But, ince their 2008 ‘You Can Do Anything”’ studio album, The Zutons have been almost silent for sixteen years with singer Dave McCabe taking time out in rehab. Now, their fourth album /The Big Decider’ - made with producers Nile Rodgers and Ian Broudie - puts them right back on track again. The new record is less indie-pop and more a mix of feel-good funk and blue-eyed soul. ‘Creeping On The Dancefloor’ is a strong party tune with a powerful chorus whilst /Disappear/ is another memorable track featuring some wonderful sax playing by Abi Harding as well as a spoken word interlude from Nile Rodgers himself! “The Big Decider” is a welcome return for The Zutons who were always an innovative and talented band!
