Chris Stapleton - Higher

Kentucky's Chris Stapleton is a country star who is respected not only by the establishment in Nashville but also by many mainstream singer-songwriters. He has worked with Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and many more and sang with Pink on this year's 'Trustfall' album. He also duetted with Adele on a version of her 'Easy On Me' and she described his voice as “like rich caramel....perfect!”. Tickets for Stapleton's 2024 UK tour are selling well – but he still has to make a major chart breakthrough here. His fifth album, the recently-released 'Higher' might help with this. It goes against the usual Nashville convention and dares to branch out into soft rock, tender R & B plus acoustic Americana. Overseen by 45- year-old Stapleton's wife Morgane and 'A Star Is Born' co-producer Dave Cobb, “Higher” follows country's best story-telling traditions. It includes some whisky-soaked, guitar-driven heartland rock numbers about hitting the road and leaving broken hearts behind. And another track reports that South Dakota is where “trouble ain't hard to find”! There are some tender numbers too. 'The Day I Die' and 'Weight Of Your World' are both emotional songs and bar room ballad ' It Takes A Woman' finds Stapleton embracing his inner soul. Chris Stapleton's tour next year should be great value – with fans dancing as well as weeping in the aisles!
