H3000 - H3000

Label: H3000
Format: CD
Soulful and euphoric sci-fi inspired electronica on debut album from Australian/Los Angeles-influenced duo H3000

Review

Albums with a sci-fi feel are big this Autumn. For example, Coldplay's forthcoming 'Music Of The Spheres' focuses on the planet Neptune and the Voyager space probe. But Chris Martin's band have been pipped to the cosmic post by a newly-formed duo called H3000 whose self-titled debut album examines themes of love and loss in a futuristic setting. Singer Luke Steele (of Australian dance duo Empire Of The Sun) and producer Jarrad Rogers met in Jarrad's hometown Los Angeles - but their slow-burning, synth-driven sketches are a world away from laid-back Californian sun, sand and surf. The mood on ;H3000' is soulful and euphoric – but there is enough warmth in Steele's delivery to reconfirm that electronic music can be more than just cool and detached. 'H3000' is an interesting and different release and it should win this new duo speedy recognition.
