SAVAK - Beg Your Pardon

Label: Ernest Jenning Record Co
Format: CD
Unimpressive and predictable alternative rock on third album from New York-based group SAVAK

Review

Peg Your Boredom? SAVAK's singer Sohrab Habibion reminds me of a youthful Phil Collins and, in line with that master genius of muzak, it's only on 'Our Savage Wit', the tenth track where we get to hear a tune which is memorable in some way. That's not all. Reviewing new CDs can be extremely harmful. I have listened three times to this, and I am now convinced that SAVAK is a synonym for headache. Ouch, stealing the 'Boys Don't Cry' riff on 'We Lead Them To Our Doors' remains unforgiveable. Even more painstakingly obvious is how SAVAK imitate the not-so-excellent Bloc Party from yesteryear with their Flat vocals and predictable chords. SAVAK comprise members of bands with attention-seeking names including the Obits, Holy Fuck and the Cops which are so encapsulated in their bubble that they don't even hear the people screaming outside them begging to play something new and exciting. SAVAK are as equally exciting as the next gas station along the highway upstate to New York. New Yawn.
