Vonneumann - Sitcom Koan

Label: Ammiratore Ominimo Records
Format: CD
Versatile live album recorded over seven years by under-rated Italian songwriter, Vonneumann

Review

Citizen Kane could not have thought of a better name to hide under. Vonneumann's album 'Sitcom Koan' proves to be very much disorientating since it was recorded live over a stretch close to seven years. It was never meant as an album to be put on the market, but at the same time is too good to be true. Plink plonk sound battles resound from the Italian Alps and in fact were recorded during single and truly excellent concerts and improvisations around the continent. Vonneumann initially received little applause, but in hindsight, however, 'Sitcom Koan' testifies as an album. Its qualities are wide-ranging and diverse, yet the album's finest moment comes on the closing 'Completene' - sturdy hand-clapping rounds off the closing tune and as well the album. It is a moment striking enough to remember.
