Catchy but often monotonous debut album from Stereolab-influenced French five-piece outfit, Le Super Homard
Review
Deep-frozen between Japanese and ephemeral Paris pop, ‘Maple Key' finds Le Super Homard treading along at great speed and ease. Few tunes though rise above average, but a couple require further introspection.
Tingling Krautrock kicks off the album's 'Intro', for example. It is a stinkingly beautiful start to something which is often boring. Glossy and at times gorgeous 'Maple Key' becomes an album which is sooner La-di-da than Oo-la-la. A tribute, therefore, to Stereolab, it is only mildly exciting.
