Exceptional acoustic folk rock on debut album from American two-piece, Kodiak Deathbeds
Review
Derek Fudesco of Pretty Girls Make Graves fame and Amber Webber from Black Mountain amongst others go unplugged in grand style. In a way reminiscent of Leo Kottke, Kodiak Deathbeds build on subtle folky chords and tell great tales. Intimate as well as outspoken, Kodiak Deathbeds provide Roy Orbison-like redemption songs with great ease.
This glorious effort begs the question why so many unplugged sessions end up in such dull and dire fashion. It is pretty hard to pick or recommend a tune, yet 'Rattle And Roar' and 'Joseph' are probably the cream of the crop. Soft-toned, gentle and exquisite throughout, it is nearly impossible to select the best from this abundance.
