Friday Club - All I Wanna Do is

Label: Friday Club
Format: CDS
Instantly infectious and catchy free download single from Birmingham-based indie pop-punk outfit, Friday Club

Review

Friday Club is a four piece band hailing from ‘city of the moment’ Birmingham. They have recently recorded with producer Dom Ganderton who has worked with other Birmingham bands such as Peace, Swim Deep and Superfood. After just one listen of Friday Club’s single ‘All I Wanna Do Is’ it is apparent the band have the ability to write extremely catchy melodies. The song is instantly infectious and would go down just as well at an indie disco as it would do on a festival stage. The lyrics are delivered in a laid back fashion by vocalist Josh Smithyman, but the song is full of energy. B-side, ‘Tropical’ kicks off with slightly grungier, fuzzy guitars and, despite the summery title, is a heavier number that also contains another catchy chorus with the repetitive “You’re not Tropical” line. Rebellious, punchy and anthem-like Friday Club sound like they mean business and have a much more punk influenced sound their B-town contemporaries. I am intrigued to hear some more from this band.
