Hyperactive and ultimately confusing second album from South London-based trio, the Mayors of Miyazaki
Review
The Mayors of Miyazaki are South London pranksters who evidently enjoy a little Bloc Party as is proved by the Nippon power pop of 'Holy Cop'.
Including all the right Polysics ingredients, Mayors of Miyazaki start off somewhat tediously with 'Souvenir', but the second track. 'Sugar in the Fuel Tank', reveals itself to be quite a merry marriage of youthful snot and testerone.
In the absence of melody, post rock takes the lead on 'Parts Per Million', and on 'Human Resources' the zany combination of sped-up South London rumble influenced by Nippon pop music mania offers something great in the final end, even though it lasts for just over one minute.
The Mayors next sink even further into bi-polar disturbance on 'Muy Sexo', the mood beaming up into loud twang mania. "C'mon on you (effing) pill heads", the striking quote from the track, explains the mood changes. All of the time, one wonders what real virtues this band hold. Quasi drivel?
