Miscellaneous - Jingle Bells

Spencer Robertshaw with 'Jingle Bells', the latest poem in his 'Evidently Spencertown', reflects upon Christmas

Article

Christmas is coming my bank account is flat Please put some money in my non-existent hat Turkey is gobbling covered in goose fat But not at my table the luxuries are at Consumer heaven the shops all wring their hands Turning the lights on minor celeb and brass band What's the latest gadget an apple or a game Fighting for the top spot it's all in the name Long queue at the pound shop for your bargain goods Last decade's toys for a quid there's the rub Will they know you're tight or will they just enjoy The Korean Action Man or shiny Barbie toy? James Bond on the TV, Slade on the radio Do They Know It's Christmas? The Royal Variety Show Then it's all over until another year But if you're lucky You can drown it out with beer!
