Anthemic, but soulless indie retro rock on latest single from Newcastle-based band, the Longsands
Review
There are three different mixes of 'Worlds Collide' on the new single from Newcastle band, the Longsands. It is a bog standard Oasis/Ocean Colour Scene-style retro anthem-based pop for the indie teenagof today, who might be fooled into thinking this is as fresh and exciting as yesterday's news. It isn't. It is nothing new but played to make the listener think it is something special. It may work with teenagers but if you have been around for a while this is twenty years too late.
'Never Turn Your Back on the Sun' is another lighter-in the air number, the sort of the thing that might be played in a cold, wet English field. Again it is decent enough for the average fourteen year old.
