Format: CDS
Catchy and highly promising debut single from Brighton-based alternative rock act, Shoot the Dead

Review

Without wishing to repeat oneself on these here pages, do you out there remember the 90’s when everything wasn’t shit? When music meant something, when it wasn’t about hair cuts and models, when indie bands played to students, who had better things to worry about then their laptops and iPhones, and they were the alternative to the crap we commonly know as “normality”. Well to me Brighton’s Shoot the Dead have the spirit of the 90s. They are fun, fuzzy and catchy, and what more could you ask for? They have a joyful innocence to them without sounding empty or stupid, and I happen to find this a great quality. Imagine a sort of female-fronted early Feeder and a little bit of Elastica, and you’re most of the way there. B-side ’Hypnotised’ has a very 2012 sound to it, but that spirit is still definitely there. Driven by a filthy synth bass line and a warped melody, it gives a fantastic glimpse into this great new band's world. I hope the rest of the band's material lives up to the promise shown on this single.
