Enjoyable and offbeat latest techno/dance EP from PJ Pooterhooks, the project of zany San Francisco musician, Craig Drake
Review
There is an utterly enjoyable bonking business going on the PJ Pooterhoots project which goes by an official name too; Craig Drake from San Francisco. His trademark mellotron funk is kept constantly busy.
There are two versions of 'Zombie Pants' first, with the Kegal Sprays mix winning on points. On 'Yayoi' the theme switches to far Northern Asian shadow boxing.
In spite of the 'Cat Sprays' mix though, with its jumpy leaps and with its raised, yet shrugged tiny shoulders, a showcase of dexterity goes on. A lot of extravagant dance music is also offered.
I can't help but think back to the comic books of the fabulously furry Freak Brothers. Pooterhoots appears to be just as zany. He's the Catweazle of nubreaks.
