Swing Youth - Myself to Blame/Blade of Grass

Label: Swing Youth
Format: CDS
Infectious pop on double A-sided single from Twickenham-based group, Swing Youth

Review

This is the debut double A-sided release by two sets of brothers. A percentage of the royalties will go to the British Legion after the death of a school friend. Swing Youth hail from Twickenham, and record above a venue that they run. They are apparently influenced by new wave, but I can't hear that on either of this single's fabulous recordings. This is great pop from the sort of band that used to grace 'Top of the Pops' every week. They have more in common with those bands of the 80s with silly names such as Haircut 100, and Flock of Seagulls. 'Myself to Blame' in particular has a C-86 influence, but both it and its other side, 'Blade of Green' are very infectious and full of energy They seenmj decent career after this great debut.
