Free Peace - Free Peace EP

Label: Loud Soul
Format: CDS
Fine classic-influenced rock on debut EP from Liverpool-based group, Free Peace

Review

Free Peace are the new band fronted by Edgar Jones, who previously fronted Edgar Jones and the Joneses and before that the Stairs. Free Peace live and breathe 1970s style rock. 'She Stole the Fire' recalls Led Zeppeline with its big riffs and massive drum sounds. The Joneses were a soul project but this is completely at the other end of what Edgar does equally well. 'Dem Bones' has a Doors-like feel, but is quite grungy. Edgar's vocal here is like Robert Plant or even Ozzy Osbourne when he was in Black Sabbath at the end of a long night out on the town. It is raw, emotional and totally for real with guitar solos that have not been heard since those times. 'May You Live in Interestin' Times' is another Zeppelin-style number, sung and played at 1,000 miles per hour. It is, like the other tracks on this EP, a song to bang your head too and to remember when rock was young and we knew what our ears liked.
