Dean and Britta - White Horses

Label: Sonic Cathedral
Format: 7"
Disappointing vinyl only version from Luna's Dean Wareham and Britta Phillips of 1968 classic song

Review

Dean and Britta are Dean Wareham of Galaxie 500 and Luna, while Britta is his wife, Britta Phillips, was also in Luna and before that was in the brilliant band , the Belltower. Sadly ‘White Horses’, which is a great track from 1968 and which is used perfectly in the Anna Friel movie’ Me Without You’, in this cover form has added nothing to its greatness The A side of this white vinyl only 7 inch is the Sonic Boom mix. Sonic Boom of Spacemen 3 introduced them to the track. This mix is trippy and sung by Britta in a slo-core fashion, with the pace of early Low. The song has a late night chill effect to it but doesn't pick up pace. The AA Side is the Version Francaise, which is the original take of the song and was produced by Tony Visconti. It is acoustic and a far superior version of the song, but again is nowhere near as much of a classic as the original version by Jacky.

Track Listing:-

1 White Horses (Sonic Boom Mix)
2 White Horses (Version Française)
