Manhattan Love Suicides - Keep It Coming

Label: Lost Music
Format: 7"
Near perfect-sounding debut release on 7" from new label Lost Music and by the JAMC/Primitives-inspired Leeds quartet the Manhattan Love Suicides

Review

Leeds-based group the Manhattan Love Suicides have released records on other labels, but this four song seven inch EP is the debut release of new UK-based label Lost Music. It opens with ‘Keep It Coming’ ,which instantly sounds like a winning combination of the Jesus and Mary Chain and the Primitives. Singer Caroline’s vocals are like a female Jim Reid, while the tune’s rhythm sounds like ‘Some Candy Talking' speeded up. ‘Think It's Killing Me’ is like a faster ‘Darklands’, with Bobby Gillespie-style drumming and big sugar sweet vocals. ‘Head over Heel’ sounds like something which Jim and William Reid’s sister Linda’s band Sister Vanilla may have done until it speeds up in great C86 fashion. ‘Sitting Target’ has a feedback drenched intro and recalls the Primitives ‘Crash’, having a fast and thrashy but restrained sound. This is a near perfect cool release from this four piece.
