Some Velvet Morning - Pretty Girl

Label: Rhythmbank
Format: CDS
Fine first single from their forthcoming debut album for London guitar trio Some Velvet Morning, who are reminiscent of the Police and Franz Ferdinand

Review

London based Some Velvet Morning have been playing music together for seven years and have played over 200 shows. They have only just put the finishing touches to their debut album and 'Pretty Girl' is the long awaited taster promising to give a feel of what the album will have in store. Pulsing drums and bass, courtesy of Rob Flanagan and Gavin Lambert are a staple of Some Velvet Morning and Pretty Girls is no exception. With a catchy chorus that rolls smoothly over lead singer Desmond Lambert’s creamy vocals and guitar riffs reminiscent of the Police and Franz Ferdinand the single is sure to please fans new and old. One criticism however is that B-side 'Losing My Mind' has been a favourite of the bands live shows for some time and is a great song worthy of single status. If anything, I think they may have got the track order the wrong way around with this one, but both tracks are on the album so no one will miss out.

Track Listing:-

1 Pretty Girl
2 Losing My Mind
