Article

Originally forming in 2000 under the moniker of Severance, Johnny Truant recorded three demos under that name before renaming themselves the following year after the heavily tattooed lead character in Mark Z. Danielewski's cult novel 'House Of Leaves'. Johnny Truant released their debut album 'The Repercussions of a Badly Planned Suicide' on Undergroove Records in 2001. A second album, 'In the Library of Horrific Events' followed in 2005, and was released again on Undergroove Records in Britain and also Dine Alone Records in Canada, where the band have recently toured. The group, which expanded from a four piece to a five piece at the beginning of 2006, has been through various line-up changes, and currently consists of Olly Mitchell (vocals); Stuart Hunter (guitar, vocals) ; James Hunter (bass); Paul jackson (drums) and latest recruit Reuben Gotto (guitar). These photographs of Johnny Truant, who are currently working on their third album, were shot exclusively by Katie Anderson at a hometown gig at the Freebutt in Brighton on September 22nd.
