Tia Carrera - Heaven/Hell

Label: Arclight Records
Format: CDS
Unpretentiously produced, appealing stoner rock on new EP from Austin, Texas psychedelic power trio Tia Carrera

Review

Austin, Texas psychedelic power trio Tia Carrera follows in the footsteps of such lone star freaks as the Mike Gunn. The first two songs – or ‘jams’ as the band calls them – on their ‘Heaven/Hell’ EP are vocals-free stoner rock workouts that would sit comfortably on a Nebula or Major Stars disc; track three is an aborted nub of a tune. Big, thumping drums, chugging bass and relentless wah abuse lie in wait to any who cocks an ear to the no-frills recording. At half an hour it’s just the right length, letting the band show off its chops without overstaying its welcome. Fans of The Melvins and Kyuss who don’t demand any of that fancy singing stuff should find ‘Heavan/Hell’ an appealing trip.

Track Listing:-

1 Heaven
2 Hell
3 End Of Tape
