Tasmanian multi-instrumentalist Anthony Rochester’s second album starts off well; a plinky plonky keyboard, a lightly plucked guitar and Rochester’s laid back vocal. But then it carries on like that. On, and on, and on, and on. This album seems a lot longer than its 40-odd minutes, mainly due to the fact that every song sounds exactly the same and it’s quite boring. Rochester’s voice is monotone, the rhythm never varies from song to song, and there really is just too much plinky plonky to take at one setting. When listening to ‘Songs for Librarians’, I was 5 tracks in before I realised more than one song had actually played. A more accurate name for this record might have been ‘Music for Elevators'.
