Strong but formulaic stoner rock from new American group, Greatdayforup
Review
I was intrigued by the resumes of Greatdayforup’s lineup: Guitarists Mike Vitali and Jay Sunkes were in King Crimson idolaters Ajna Chakra and Biohazard clones Stigmata, while vocalist Mike Langone was in the Greys (the improvisation-loving New Yorkers, not the Latin outfit).
Could we be in for some avant garde heavy rock? Er - apparently not.
Instead the quintet is working off its stoner rock jones: Chugging riffs, crashing drums and a rhythm section that works days as a steamroller.
It’s good stoner rock, but truth to tell, I listened to Dozer’s 'Through the Eyes of Heathens' just prior to sitting down to review 'Flores de Sangre', and I’ve already had my fix.
