Derivative, but enthusiastic first album from young five piece German group Boozed with a Scandinavian hard rock obsession
Review
I suspect that the record collections of the five young men who form Bramsche, Germany’s Boozed have a substantial number of Hellacopters, Turbonegro and Gluecifer albums - in fact, copies of 'Ass Cobra', 'Supershitty to the Max!' and 'Ridin’ The Tiger' are probably framed on the wall.
Like their Viking forebears (i.e., the aforementioned holy triumvirate of Scandinavian cock rock and like minded associates in the Backyard Babies, Demons, Flamin’ Sideburns et al.) the young hellions of Boozed worship at the altar of Kiss, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, and Motor City rock.
The quintet favours a dual guitar attack and singer Markus has a pronounced vocal resemblance to Gluecifer’s Biff Malibu; songs like 'Fire and Gasoline' and 'Rattlesnake Threat' sound just like their titles suggest. The shuddering Hammond of Bjorn Gaus and female backing vocals give a classic rock feel to several tracks ... yes, it’s hopelessly derivative, but Boozed bring as much lust and sweaty energy to the dozen tunes on 'Tight Pants' as their rock’n’roll idols. If you have White Jazz albums in your collection, you’ll likely find this one snuggles in nicely beside them.
