Eclectic and experimental debut album of new project of former Talulah Gosh/Heavenly/Marine Research girl Amelia Fletcher
Review
Tender Trap is the new project from former Talulah Gosh/Heavenly/Marine Research girl Amelia Fletcher, who is assisted by fellow ex-Marine Reasearchers DJ Downfall and Rob Pursey.
During her sixteen years in the music business, Amelia has always been a leader. Talulah Gosh were a shambling punk rock outfit when in 1986 all around them there were big over production jobs. Many of my favourite bands had hits in the charts. Sadly nowthey no longer have big record deals, but Amelia has always had a cult fan following and this album sees her in a different light. She has moved on in style.
Only on the singles 'Oh Katrina' and 'Face of '73' do we get the old jangle of Heavenly. The songs here are, however, works of experimentation and all the better for it. All the songs are short and sweet. Alongside 'Oh Katrina, my other favourite is post rocker 'You are Gone (So You Should Go)', a track that may upset Sarah diehards for being too far ahead of the game.
Some tracks here have chunky guitar. Some jangle and some are darker, but on the whole this is a maturer record and well worthy of you attention.
Not twee in the least !
