Inspired by a visit to poetess Emily Dickinson's one time home, American singer-songwriter Linda Smith's new CD is not without potential, but unfortunately is marred by a cheap and rushed production
Review
I don't know what to say about this. It looked like the kind of thing I could of liked, but the production really lets this down.
Sometimes a basic production can work in a recordings favour (Lou Reed's 'The Blue Mask'") but this just sounds cheap and rushed.
The songs and arrangements seem under developed, yet on
occasion ('The Time of The Year' especially) there is hints of someone who given some time and money could release a far better record.
Vocally Liz Phair comes to mind .In fact Pahir's debut 'Exile in Guysville' proves the point, a basic recording that had the songs, vocals and personality to pull it off.
