'Easter Songs' was recorded above a funeral parlour but it doesn't show. 100 Pets' debut is simultaneously released in the UK and in Germany. It is another magnificent debut, similar in its standard of excellence to the I am Kloot and Turin Brakes debut albums. Albeit slightly unspectacular, 100 Pets have a well-balanced dreamsound. Their soft clarity yields a mature collection, that meanders through warm beds of folk pop. And when the former single 'Old Cat' creeps up, you'll find yourself amongst the gentleness and imagination of seventies' esoterism. Despite this redemptive feel, 100 Pets to evoke some boisterous moments and these psyche-outs put 100 Pets on a par with label mates Pop Off Tuesday. Composure, however, remains the dominant theme on 'Easter Songs' though.100 Pets' frontman Sam Dooks is assisted by Simon James on cello, David Ewan Campbell (who's also in I'm Being Good) on drums and Jussi Brightmore on keyboards and guitar.'Easter Songs' is a fine debut , rich with songs that are well crafted and up to the Pickled Egg standard.
