My Life Story - Photoscapes

Rob Hadley takes photos of Britpop act My Life Story at a gig at the Hare and Hounds in Birmingham.

Originally founded in 1984 by charismatic frontman Jake Shillingford, My Life Story, rose to fame as a pioneering force of the Britpop movement. The group recently toured to promote their just released fifth album. 'Loving You is Killing Me', and these photos were taken at a gig at the Hare and Hounds in Birmingham on the 22nd February. Robert says: "My Life Story were excellent from the first note. Lead singer Jake Shillingford certainly knows how to get a crowd going...though the crowd at the Hare and Hounds had been properly warmed up by Low Red Moon so were ready to sing along with Jake. Some tried to dance but there no room for that. A young lady stood next to me told me My Life Story had been the band her parents loved so she grew up with them and this was her first gig since giving birth recently...she was very excited to be there. Jake took the crowd back in time to sounds they knew wiith tracks from his back catalogue and mixed them with songs from 'Loving You is Killing Me'".
