Reytons - Ballad of a Bystander

Label: Reytons
Format: CD
Powerful and anthemic guitar rock on third album from Rotherham band The Reytons

Review

Rotherham quartet The Reytons are following on from Wigan band The Lathams and are now filling a gap in the market left by the Arctic Monkeys following their decision to pursue lounge-style jazz and Irish ballads rather than powerful guitar music. ‘Ballad of a Bystander’, the third album from The Reytons, is dominated by powerful, punky sing-alongs that will be hugely popular at indie discos and at live gigs, too. Frontman Jonny Yerrell sings happily of hopping on the 116 bus with his girlfriend and whiling away hours in shopping arcades. ‘Seven In Search Of Ten’ is about a Tinder addict with unrealistic expectations and is a highlight of the new album.
