Lloyd Cole and Hans-Joachim Roedilus - Selected Studies Vol. 1

Label: Bureau B
Format: CD
Stunning ambience on electronic instrumental collaboration between English rock singer Lloyd Cole and Austrian composer Han-Joachim Roedilus

Review

This is a very special recording which takes the soul of each of these two musicians and delivers them immaculately and velvet-toned to your ear. Kraftwerk might just be getting fidgety when they hear this powerful electronica because it is that exciting and strong. Each of the ten tracks is lovingly crafted, and most could be a soundtrack to a powerful science fiction film. We are, however. thrown a curveball in the mid-section with an oriental piece named 'TangoLargo'. Han-Joachim Roedilus was greatly admired by Cole and vice versa. It took them ten years to make this album happen, but was worth the long wait. If they don't get some film composing work from this soaring work of ambience, then there is something badly wrong with the world. This is a change for Cole altogether but that adds to the beauty. If you like clever electronica and music to float along, then this is essential listening.
