Silent Years - Taking Drugs in the Amusement Park

Label: Gift Music
Format: CDS
Competent, but formulaic latest single from Detroit-based indie rockers, the Silent Years

Review

‘Taking Drugs at the Amusement Park’ sees Detroit five-piece the Silent Years write big, rousing songs with even bigger, rousing choruses that make you want to sing along – and anyone can go “la, la, la” over and over, surely? – and chink your beer glass. Lead singer Josh Epstein conjures up the spirit of Arcade Fire most readily (actually, a bit too readily) and adds the Flaming Lips and Jeff Buckley in for good measure. While on paper this may sound all very appealing – and The Silent Years clearly know how to write a song – Taking Drugs...’ is all too formulaic, hardly original and well, just competent rather than exciting. Could do better.

Track Listing:-

1 Taking Drugs At The Amusement Park
2 Vampires Bite The Hands Feed Them
