Early Years - Like a Suicide/The Computer Voice

Label: Sonic Cathedral
Format: 7"
Experimental hard-sounding guitar rock on new double A sided vinyl only single from London-based band the Early Years

Review

For their tenth single, nu-gaze club and label Sonic Cathedral are releasing on lovely yellow-coloured vinyl a double A-sided record by Beggars' Banquet band the Early Years. The Early Years have just finished recording their second album, but this is their first new material in a good while. The A side, 'Like A Suicide', is an electro number and starts off sounding like early OMD without the pop feel. As it moves along, it becomes more guitar-based and increasingly experimental, developing a groove that is a cross between a heavy Neil Young and a distorted Velvet Undergound or Sonic Youth. The AA side, 'The Computer Voice', has a strange krautrock/Spacemen 3 groove, and very loud guitar and drums that send your head into psychedelic dreams. It is definitely the better of the 2 songs here.

Track Listing:-

1 Like A Suicide
2 The Computer Voice
