Grinderman - Get It On

Label: Mute Records
Format: 7"
Foul mouthed and angry very limited one sided 7 inch, the debut release of Nick Cave's new band Grinderman

Review

Grinderman are Nick Cave's new band. Released only on very limited one sided and etched 7 inch, and in a pornographic sleeve designed and drawn by Nick, it was an instant sell out, moving off the shelf despite having a £3.99 price tag. Backing Nick are violinist Warren Ellis, bassist Martyn Casey and drummer Jim Sclavunos who together make one of the freshest sounding numbers Nick Cave has recorded in years. It finds a foul mouthed Cave playing a hard fisted guitar groove, while ranting against an angry beat to great effect. A piano adds a funky 70's sound of pure energy, the sort that fuelled punk rock to the forefront of the new music revolution. If you missed this it will be on Grinderman's eponymous debut album which is due out in March.
