Annalise - Versus Everything

Label: Boss Tuneage
Format: CD
First new album from Annalise in two years "proves to be well worth the wait" and "definite proof that they are one of the best punk bands in the UK today."

Review

It has been two years since Annalise's last release, but ‘Versus Everything’ proves to be well worth the wait. A tour of Japan, Malaysia and Australia within these two years influenced this album a great deal, with the tracks ‘Y’fuckinfreak’, ‘Next stop Nowhere’ and ‘Alive Under Starlight’ being stories of those dates. All these lyrics are admirable, emotional and true to life. I found myself nodding with approval countless times, but especially to the lines in the opening track ‘Everyone’s An Idiot’. "I’ve had enough of hearing about the best shopping deals/ What the latest big thing is and how a soap star feels/ The glue that binds the nation is it’s stupidity..’. ‘Next Stop Nowhere’, ‘Understanding Amy’ and ‘Dead City Radio’ are also key tracks, with the latter taking the music in a totally different direction. Ten melodic pop-punk gems. Definite proof that they are one of the best punk bands in the UK today.

3 Y'Fuckinfreak

In a time when having a tune and being punk seems to fall into either category of simply hated or the ludicrous 'emo', annalise have produced a fantastic album - that contains IDEAS and TUNES (shock Horror) plenty of people dont seem to think thats punk rock. To be quite frank with Music, lyrics, ideas and the whole package as good as this who really gives a toss? It has more attitude than probably all of epitaph and fat wreck put together, and it just sounds bloody marvellous. And no its not a vehicle for promoting a single or three it is an "album", which you should really LISTEN to.
