Review
If you look at a map of the world and strike a line out from the centre, running along the longitudes and latitudes, pretty soon you are going to reach the edge. Now if you keep going, way, way out, past the 1 inch white paper border and on to the back, you’ll find huddled together a loosely ordered community known as experimental dance, a.k.a abstract techno, otherwise known as leftfield electronica or whatever new phrase is at this minute racing through the glossies…. but it’s there… I guarantee it. This release on pause_2 is stuffed full of alternate takes on what is a global, albeit fragmented scene (just check the email addresses). Most of the tracks here are an amalgamation of natural resonance, organic tones, analogue hiss and speaker damaging pops and clicks that gel into a complex music of amoeba like simplicity. Each one has the ability to make you float in an ocean or to lose yourself to Atari armageddon, depending on which part of the sounds you want to trace off into the ether.
It seems redundant to breakdown and name particular tracks, as across the board, whether its twisted electro euro disco ,teen flick love anthems, or chime like found sounds for frayed Sunday mornings when your brain's still firing from the night before, the album never falters (although it has to be said it misses several hundred beats)
