intro
Fabulous new EP from Manchester indie-pop five piece Amida, which has been released on cassetteonly and is just their third EP in six years
Despite forming nearly six years ago, 'The Spite House Plot' is only the third EP from Manchester's indie-pop 5-piece, Amida. Thankfully their lack of productivity is certainly tempered by the overall quality of their material and aside from the weak opening track, a rather substandard Sarah Records by numbers 'Midweek Debauchery', 'The Spite House Plot' is an enjoyable affair. Most of the songs clock in at less than 2 minutes a-piece on this cassette only EP , but are the kind of fizz bomb pop moments that don't try and be anything too intricate, and just aim at making the listener want to smile and leap around the room in equal measure. None more so than 'A Month Of Sundays' 'Black Balloons' has an early Strokes feel and indeed there is an American edge to to the vocal style of John Ammirati, but in the main Amida produce great indie-pop. Sadly, just not often enough!

Shambling, but enjoyable Wedding Present and This Poison-influenced indie pop on fourth EP from Manchester-based band Amida, who probably work best as a live act |
