Tortoise’s new box set, ‘A Lazarus Taxon’, is made up of three CDs, including rare singles, foreign releases, tour EPs, compilation tracks, previously unreleased material and the out-of-print 1995 album ‘Rhythms, Resolutions and Clusters’. The box set also contains a DVD featuring most of Tortoise's videos and extensive live performance footage.
Tracks included on this collection are the fantastic ‘Gamera’, an extended version of ‘His Second Story Island from the band’s first, self-titled LP; ‘Madison Area’, taken from a 7” released to promote the TNT world tour and ‘Waihopai’, from the 2001 'Gently Cupping The Chin Of The Age' EP. There are also remixes from the legendary likes of Steve Albini, Nobukazu Takemura, Mike Watt and Jim O’Roukre.
But, honestly, you don’t really need to read a review of this, do you? It’s a Tortoise box set. Just go and buy it!
