Fine first single from his new album 'Ringleader of the Tormentors' from Morrissey
Review
'You Have Killed Me' is the first single from Morrissey's new album,'Ringleader of the Tormentors'. It is a great choice for a first single and is definitely something of a grower. The whole track shows him crying out to his fan base that he is back. It is also about sex. We are talking about Morrissey here, so this is odd for him.
'You Have Killed Me' has two CDS versions. The first CDS has as its second track, 'Good Looking Man About Town', which is a weaker effort. Its lyrics are about love and Europe and it has a strange Arabic feel.
The second CDS has two extra tracks. The first of these, 'Human Being' is a cover of an old New York Dolls song, but sounds like it was written specifically for Morrissey. It is an old early 70's song, and, more wordy that the average Morrissey record, it has, with its funky brass and piano, the feel of that era.
'I Know I Was Next', the second track, finds Morrissey on familiar territory, and sounds like a re-write of his old song 'Why Don't You Find Out for Yourself' from his 'Vauxhall and I' album. It also features brass and has some weird psychedelic organ and is an excellent song.
