Funny voices, daft words plus entangled song structures remain very much the characteristics of these Norman jesters from Caen, France. Like swank pots with small hearts they indulge in playing their household range of instruments in quite different Their absurdism and laconic wit come out best on the wonderful 'Special COntainers'. With an insatiable need to confuse but equally to please, GaBLé have a lot in common with Meridian Brothers and - collectionists pay attention - Eblis Álvarez is featured on the third track 'Shared'. The homemade poppling pop tunes come with deft electro beats, yet, as it is often the case with French musicians, melody and words cannot be fooled with. Medieval influences shine through as if they were the uninvited bards bringing chaos to a Top 40 party. My wording may lead you to believe they're a disorderly combo; nut their snappy tunes prove the opposite. Happy sad clowns who use strong language when it's needed, GaBLé reflect on life today, joking in a most subtle way on for example the selfie 'Age of Narcissus'. Bittersweet nonsense on the surface and innocent pop music at first appearance makes 'Pick The Weak' a rich collection of wordplay and musical craft. Besides, my pre-order cost me a staggering thirteen quid. 18 via Bandcamp. Do not miss out.
