intro
Energetic and gutsy garage rock from Dublin-based act the Revillions, the first from their forthcoming second album
Out of Dublin, Ireland, the Revellions have just put out their new single 'Sigh’s'. 'Sigh’s' at once combines raw garage rock with ambitious sweeping melody. Formed in Dublin in 2006, the Revellions were originally a surf instrumental band that soon changed their line up and hit the Dublin music scene. The Revellions feature a pounding rhythm section, swirling moody organ, raw guitar riffs and the powerful vocals of wailing blues singer Ali Moore. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2008. 'Sigh’s' showcases what’s to come with The Revellions’ second album scheduled for release in late 2010. The track 'Sigh’s' starts with a distinctive line from the rhythm section and cascading organ work as the band plays with urgency. The vocal is both inspired and moving. 'Sigh’s' captures garage rock intensity blown up into a big over the top sound, while still preserving the smoothness of their surf roots. The B side, 'Ain't No Fool', starts with a great organ crescendo and includes a gritty vocal. Like 'Sigh’s', 'Aint No Fool' is gutsy amplified rock infused with a heightened sense of energy that is contagious.
