intro
Third single from deservedly hyped Northamton group the Departure, which is "a cacophony of angular rhythms, edgy bass and echo ridden New Wave guitar duelling"
Northampton-based the Departure are a band with the world at their feet and they have once again produced a single worth shouting about. Their third release through Parlophone is a cacophony of angular rhythms, edgy bass and echo ridden New Wave guitar duelling - part punked up Dick Dale, part laid back Gang of Four. The epic proceedings are gloomily overseen by the worn down melancholy of singer David Jones who veers from a Tom Vek esque nasal drawl to full blown anxiety attack. ‘Lump In My Throat’ is another clear example that their debut album (set for release in June) will be one of the most important records of the year.
