intro
Ropily produced, but thoroughly enjoyable pop rock on debut Ep from new London act, Restless Diesel
The first track opened sounding like a bad Oasis and had a very 'Definitely Maybe' era style chorus and then by the end was truly epic in sound. I liked it a lot. The second track was if anything even better. This single has a very pop tinged edge and yes it is more like Oasis than the Libertines but there is nothing wrong with that and in some circles this is rather good! (including my own I may add!) The production values of the whole EP doesn’t do the band justice and I get the feeling that if this band had a proper production budget and some help from one of those big shot producers I keep hearing about they could have the most epic sound imaginable. When this happens, which it will with songwriting of this calibre, I will very happily champion their cause until they are on Radio 2 and late night Channel 4. At which point someone like Steve Lamacq will champion the cause and take them to the Reading Festival and back but I will always hold this initial EP close to my heart when I read about their 48 hour drug binges in the Sun and say “ I discovered them!” But this is of course stepping far too far into the future right now I should think this band just want to cover the expenses of producing this EP and to play to as many people as possible! So help em out and go to the website, buy the EP and find out when they are playing next. Tell them I sent you.
