intro
First-rate reissue of 1986 punk single by Creation founder Alan McGee's band, Biff Bang Pow!
This single by Alan McGee's band originally came out on his Creation Records in 1986 and has now been re-released by German micro-label Edition 59 Records in a limited edition of just 59 records. 'Someone Stole my Wheels' is a retro number with strong backing harmonies, that even Julian Cope, king of the bar bar bars, would be proud of. It also features some smooth Hammond-flavoured organ, which is as cool as the beatnik haircuts that all us cool dudes had back then when being a fan of the 60s was still a bit of a rarity. 'Someone Stole My Wheels' is a mod tale of someone stealing the ever so proud item that cost you every penny you had and your means of transport, your scooter. It makes you scared, is as angry as an early punk record, the scene that made Alan McGee and Bobby Gillespie become friends in the first place and started Alan's dreams of forming an indie label. Think of an early the Jam, but better delievered. 'Sunny Days' was on the original 12 inch version of this record and is a weird piece of 60s influenced pop that sounds like a mod fantasy influenced by the Byrds, the Beach Boys and 'Revolver'-era Beatles.
