by Andy Vincent

intro
Senses Fail have received much acclaim for their second album, 'Still Searching', and recently played the Taste of Chaos tour for rising punk/emo bands. Andy Vincent chats to guitarist Heath Saraceno on its London date about touring and the group's plans for the future
Senses Fail are a fast rising Screamo / Punk / Emo outfit that were created in New Jersey in 2002. The band, featuring Buddy Nielson on vocals, Garrett Zablocki and Heath Saraceno on guitars, Mike Glita on bass and Dan Trapp on drums have recently released their second album entitled 'Still Searching'. It follows on from their debut album, 'Let It Enfold You', which came out in 2004. 'Still Searching' has created a lot of buzz on its circuit and the band have found their support increase with it.A more refined but still raw sound and a stint on the 2006 Taste of Chaos tour has allowed the band to reach audiences that perhaps before would have only given the band a passing glance before. Pennyblackmusic caught up with guitarist and newest member of Senses Fail, Heath Saraceno, at a gig at London's Brixton Academy on the Taste of Chaos tour. PB : You've recently released 'Still Searching'. How has the response been to that ? HS : It's been great. The crowds have been getting more and more into it every time we play a show. It's been really great to hear people singing the words back at us. PB : You've been quoted as saying you felt that you had a heavier more hard hitting sound on the new record. What inspired you to do this? HS : I don't know. I wouldn't say it was a conscious decision. We just we found ourselves going that way, It was fun to see where we went with it. This is the first album I've been involved in with the band so it's just how we've written it. PB : Do you find the UK crowds are as excited at your gigs as their Stateside counterparts? HS : There's always energy over here and it's good to see the UK crowd get into the shows. Playing the UK is always really exciting although being away from our loved ones is difficult. PB : What are your views on the current scene? HS : I don't know really. I just think let the kids do what they do and enjoy it. Musically I like the fact that a lot of bands I've grown up with and been to shows of in New Jersey are finally getting the recognition they deserve and the fact that I can tour with those bands is fantastic. PB : You took six months off earlier this year. Was there any reason for that? HS : Well, you can say we had 6 months “off” but it was more just a break from live shows and recording. We wrote a lot of stuff, hung out and just got our shit together. It wasn't really time “off”. PB : What do you enjoy about coming to the UK? HS : The food... I really like the food here, and the fact you don't all have bad teeth. PB : What are your plans for the future? HS : Just tour some more, make some more music and enjoy ourselves. We're going to take a few days off after this tour and then I guess we'll see. PB : Thank you.
